“Google Wave: Platform for Web 2.0 in Education”

Wave is Google's answer to the question "What would email look like if we were to invent it today rather than 40 years ago" - but it also promises to answer the question of "How can we best promote and conduct collaborations and group projects in education?"  Ray will demonstrate how Wave holds the promise and potential to enable educators to easily and effectively use Web 2.0 to facilitate learning and collaboration.

“Social Networking: Engaging Students in Learning”

Social networking has become more popular than email.  Networking tools such as wikis, blogs, nings, waves and many more are enabling the building of communities of learners in our classes.  Ray will discuss how, for the first time, we also can extend these communities to include students and faculty elsewhere on the campus and even elsewhere in the world.   The potential is unlimited.  We will explore the possibilities of opening the classroom door.
